SnapNick does not set advertising or analytics cookies, and the pages you read here do not set any cookie of their own. What the site does keep is two small entries in your browser’s local storage — your saved nicknames and your light or dark theme — which never leave your device. Last updated: 16 September 2026.
The short answer
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to keep and send back on the next visit. SnapNick has no accounts, no analytics service and no advertising network, so none of the usual reasons for cookies apply. We checked the response headers of the home page on 16 September 2026: no Set-Cookie header is sent to a visitor.
What stays in your browser instead
Two features need to remember something between visits. They use local storage, a browser feature similar to a cookie with one important difference: the browser does not send it to our server.
| Name | What it holds | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
snap_fav |
Up to 200 nicknames you tapped the heart on | So the “Save” button in the generator still shows them next time | Until you clear site data |
snap_theme |
The word light or dark | So the page opens in the theme you picked | Until you clear site data |
Neither entry contains your name, your email or anything you typed into the generator box.
Cookies that other parties may set
- Our network provider. SnapNick is delivered through Cloudflare. If its bot protection needs to check a request, it can set a short-lived security cookie such as
__cf_bm. That cookie belongs to Cloudflare, is used only to tell people from automated traffic, and expires within about 30 minutes. - Editors who log in. The WordPress sign-in cookies exist only for the SnapNick Editorial Team while they edit the site. Readers never receive them.
There are no embedded videos, social widgets or ad units on SnapNick pages, so no third-party cookies arrive through them.
How to see or clear it
Open your browser’s site settings for snapnick.com and choose to clear site data — that removes both local-storage entries and any cookie at once. A private or incognito window keeps nothing after you close it. The generator works exactly the same either way; you only lose the saved hearts and the theme choice.
If this changes
If SnapNick ever adds a feature that needs a cookie — or adds analytics or advertising — this page will be updated first and the date at the top will change. What the server itself records, such as access logs, is described in our privacy policy. Questions go to [email protected].
